Since 2015, BP — A Beneficência Portuguesa de São Paulo — has maintained its commitment to transparency by reporting its progress through annual sustainability reports, sharing its advancements, achievements, and commitments with society. The 2025 edition reinforces this practice by presenting a summary of key Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance indicators for the Hospital BP and BP Mirante units.
A comprehensive analysis of these indicators, along with detailed technical data, is available in the full report, which can be downloaded using the link below.
Valuing life and promoting sustainable health is the commitment that guides BP in its decisions, choices, and investments. Amid a rapidly transforming industry—characterized by significant consolidation, intensifying competitive pressures, and an increasingly fierce battle for customer preference and trust—we remain focused on evolving with agility, strong management discipline, and a long-term strategic vision. Remaining competitive, relevant, and sustainable has become essential to expanding our impact and honoring the institution’s legacy.”
Founded in 1859, BP – A Beneficência Portuguesa de São Paulo – is one of Latin America’s most traditional and distinguished healthcare institutions. With a long-standing and solid reputation, it has consistently expanded its infrastructure, broadened its service portfolio, and strengthened its social impact. It delivers high-quality care across the private and nonprofit sectors, covering 52 medical specialties, with a strong focus on high-complexity treatments—particularly in oncology, cardiology, neurology, and orthopedics.
One of BP’s key priorities this year was the consolidation of its Centers of Excellence in Neurology and Neurosurgery and in Orthopedics, as well as the planning of the CoEs in Oncology and Cardiology.
In 2025, BP made significant strides in promoting full health and well-being for all, with milestones that reinforced its corporate purpose of valuing life and added value to its legacy. Period highlights include:
BP’s social performance is an integral part of its history and of its commitment to health as a fundamental right. In 2025, this commitment took on an even more structured and strategic form, combining quality care, strengthening the National Health Service (SUS), knowledge generation, and resource mobilization to expand access to care, especially for vulnerable populations.
In 2025, we conducted 31 projects, and were present in every state across the country, reaching 3,746 municipalities and benefiting 1,264,741 people, in collaboration with more than 10,000 healthcare institutions—a testament to the widespread reach and national significance of our social initiatives.
Following the founding of BP University in 2024, we continued to make progress toward accreditation as a Higher Education Institution. Based on the accreditations obtained from the Ministry of Education (MEC), BP has established undergraduate programs in Hospital Management Technology (authorized in 2024) and in Nursing and Psychology (authorized in 2025), with operations set to begin in 2026, in addition to a portfolio of graduate programs. In this way, BP University strengthens the integration of knowledge, clinical practice, and innovation, connecting people, expertise, and projects in pursuit of excellence and the future of healthcare.
BP's Research Division has reached a milestone that reflects the consistency of its intellectual output: we have published 1,000 scientific articles over the past decade in nationally and internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals.
In the area of sponsored clinical research, more than 120 global multicenter studies were conducted, led by a team of approximately 100 physicians. At the same time, the Researcher Support and Incentive Center (Naipe) supported 213 independent research projects initiated by BP employees.
Innovation at BP has gone beyond the realm of technology to become a cornerstone of cultural and process transformation. The institution’s strategy was to move beyond the view that innovation is confined to the IT department alone. The goal is to foster decentralized innovation, in which clinical and administrative departments have the autonomy and agency to identify pain points and propose solutions in their day-to-day work. The expected outcome is a shift in the organization’s mindset toward a more predictive and less reactive approach.
The establishment of the Institute of Science and Technology (ICT) marked a major milestone this year, positioning it as a hub for open innovation that connects BP’s scientific research with industry, with a focus on addressing chronic public health issues and socio-environmental challenges.
Another notable project in 2025 was Go Digital, a strategic, cross-functional initiative by BP focused on the digital transformation of the patient's journey and improving operational efficiency.
Sustainability at BP has steadily evolved into a cross-cutting priority that informs decision-making and shapes the organization’s culture. In 2025, this maturity was further consolidated through strengthened climate governance and active engagement from senior leadership. This rigorous approach has earned national and international recognition, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to long-term sustainability and to creating value for society as a whole.
