Clinical Oncology

What is it?

Clinical Oncology participates in planning multidisciplinary treatment, and coordinates the administration of nonsurgical treatments, such as chemotherapy and targeted therapy. Our physicians work in a tightly integrated manner, connecting the best and most innovative cancer treatment options to individualized and personalized care that the complexity of this diagnosis requires.

In addition to chemotherapy, one of the treatment options offered by the Clinical Oncology of the BP Cancer Center is immunotherapy, which stimulates the immune system to attack tumor cells, by means of medications. This therapy has already been used successfully for specific types of tumors and shows benefits, such as lower frequency of side effects, very common in oncology treatments.

In the area of Oncogenetics, our team is capable of evaluating each client’s predisposition to hereditary syndromes linked to cancer by means of genetic studies, thus allowing early diagnosis and preventive actions.

Clients undergoing sessions of chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and other treatments that weaken the immune system, are more susceptible to infections, especially in the region of the mouth, which contains a large number of bacteria. For them, BP Clinical Oncology offers the Oral Medicine service, which includes laser therapy, used to reduce mucositis caused by medications, and orientations for prevention of complications during the administration of therapies.
