Hematology

What is it?

An integral part of the BP Cancer Center, the Hematology division is prepared to see high- complexity clients and offers a distinctive structure for the various modalities of treatment necessary for their recovery, including specialized ICU, blood bank, imaging and laboratory tests, as well as areas dedicated exclusively to bone marrow transplants.

Associating the expertise of its specialists and high technology, BP is a reference in the treatment of diseases related to the blood, to its components (plasma, white cells, red cells, and platelets), and to the organs, such as bone marrow, that produce them. Additionally, it also performs studies and clinical investigations focused on the development of new drugs and treatment options for these conditions.

The BP Bone Marrow Transplant Division has a team of 18 hematologists, four of them with exclusive dedication to transplants. It admits clients referred by other organizations of the country. It performs autologous procedures, in which the patient’s own bone marrow is used, and allogenic procedures, in which the healthy cells are donated by a family member (related) or by a compatible donor registered at the National Voluntary Donor Registry (Redome), both at BP Hospital and at BP Mirante.

In 2017, with less than two years of operation, our division already occupied the first position in volume of bone marrow transplants performed within the health insurance system in Brazil, according to data from the Brazilian Association of Organ Transplants (ABTO). These results are strictly related to the integrated performance of physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary team, which have as primary objectives the quality of care and satisfaction of our clients.
